The 2009 Summit for a Sustainable Tennessee
The 3rd Annual Summit for a Sustainable Tennessee took place November 13-14, 2009 at the Ward Agricultural Center in Lebanon, TN. Over 160 citizens, conservation groups, environmental policy experts, elected officials and representatives of private business and industry came together to forge new partnerships and innovative solutions to the most pressing conservation issues in Tennessee. Approximately 90 organizations and businesses were represented.
The group collaborated with conservation leaders to develop the statewide Sustainability Agenda for 2010 and implementation plan. They also attended seminars and networked with local green businesses, organizations, and leaders to learn about their successes and solutions at the Green Exhibit area.
The second annual Summit for a Sustainable Tennessee took place November 13-15, 2008 on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville.
The 2008 Summit welcomed more than 200 participants from more than 130 organizations, representing government, business, nonprofits, institutions of higher education and communities. Participants came from across the state and beyond. Click

Presented by the Tennessee Environmental Council, Tennessee Conservation Voters, and Greener Tennessee, the 2008 Summit built upon the foundations established in 2007, bringing together voices from across the spectrum.
Through a series of interest area meetings, workshops and speakers, the Summit synthesized the results from special topic work groups into broad issue areas, allowing greater cross-collaboration.
Speakers included: Mayor Karl Dean, Dodd Galbreath (Lipscomb University Institute for Sustainable Practice), Jonathan Gilligan (Vanderbilt University) and Robert Gottlieb (Occidental College).
